WORLD CULTURE FOOD AND DANCE WEEKENDS In association with Django's Hostel, we will be running a series of World Culture weekends featuring dance and cookery workshops and demonstrations. In March, we will visit India with Bolywood dance and spice cookery from The Devil's Menu. In April, it's the turn of Latin America with Mexican cooking from Lily Ramirez-Foran, and salsa dance classes. Finally, we will explore the Eastern Mediterranean in May with tribal bellydance and a feast of Greek, Cypriot and Turkish dishes from Aphrodite's Delights.
Each weekend begins with a themed pop-up restaurant on the Friday evening, followed by a dance performance, all featuring our workshop leaders. You can look forward to Bahjis and Bhunas, Tacos and Tortillas, Feta pastries and Falafel. CLOUGHTOBERFEST 2012 Ireland's only festival of Gypsy Jazz music and Irish Craft Beers. Building on the success of our first festival in 2011, we'll be running for a full 4 days this time, with concerts from Wawau Adler, Tim Kliphuis and Frankie Gavin, 2 days of music masterclasses, and a fully licensed beer tent with a range of fine Irish craft brews and free lunchtime concerts... Plus, of course, plenty of gypsy jams with music sessions all around town, all the time. See the festival website for full details and bookings.
One of the ways we are funding this event is through crowd-funding..... a great new concept that helps to get independent projects off the ground, by getting small donations from lots of people. It's not just for arts events... on the many crowd-funding sites around, you'll find social enterprises, food and technology projects and charities all raising money through people-power. If you'd like to know more, click on our Sponsume panel on the right.. and make a pledge while you're there! |
